UTX-80 MICRO ARDF TRANSMITTER

UTX-80 schematic
The UTX-80 is a micro transmitter designed for FoxOring ARDF or for practice / demo purposes.

Notes:
  • The transformer L1 type and ratio is not critical. T50-6 toroid is used here but (eg.) a T50-2 would be equally suitable.
A ratio of 1:10 to 1:20 is suggested. Experimenting with winding ratios with your preferred antenna length will likely deliver increased output.
  • A unique letter (A-Z) is sent by each TX, this will enable the competitor to separate TXs if more than can be heard at ant one time.
  • The 30 seconds on/off mode is the recommended transmission format for UK FoxOring
  • The box is a standard 200ml sealed food container
  • The fixing holes should be drilled on the centerline of the BOX. The PCB will then be offset from the centerline of the BOX, giving space for the PP3 battery.
  • Use a 250mm length of aluminum edging angle as the ground/fixing stake fixed through the same mounting holes.
  • A 500mm antenna will ensure the TX is audible using a PJ80 at 100m.
